Quote:I'm with Zeus. Use any and all areas of study to provide objective (there is no such thing as subjective evidence, just subjective conclusions), factual, testable, and corroborated evidence (FACTS) that support your position. No "I think" statements.
The indian analogy of truth. Four blind men touch an elaphant. On touches the elephant's leg and says, 'An elephant is like strong pillar!' The other touches the elephant's tail and says, 'An elephant is like a rope.' Another one touches the elephant's ear and says, 'An elephant is like a basket.' The other man touched the elephant's belly and talked about it differently.
All the blind men had evidence for their claim, although subjective, this is similar to our search of truth. If history is to tell us anything we shouldnt say something is X, X will most likey be changed in the future or ridiucled.
Objective evidence is what we can learn from science and history. 2 + 2 = 4 is objecitve, not absolute. The theory of evolution is objective, not absolute. The historicity of Jesus, is objective but not absolute, we all have faith, in a theory or belief, but they may be proven wrong in the future.
Absolute truth is truth we will never know about, but is absolute, simple as that. How did the universe start? something we will never understand completely. Is there a God?
Science can not be considered as absolute truth, as science is uncovereing the mysteries of the world, we have come a fair way, but we still have further to go, untill then, science is objective, but not absolute.
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.
You dont hate God, you hate the church game.
"God is not what you imagine or what you think you understand. If you understand you have failed." Saint Augustine
Your mind works very simply: you are either trying to find out what are God's laws in order to follow them; or you are trying to outsmart Him. -Martin H. Fischer
