So does Christianity really make people joyous? I don't see much sign of it, though I do know a couple joyous Christians.
Most of the joyous Christians I know are joyous for the wrong reasons, like delighting in the supposed eternal torment of unbelievers.
And I think being perpetually joyous is delusional anyway. Sometimes things suck. Sometimes they hurt. Sometimes they're exceedingly unfair. And even when you realize that the notion of fairness is an artificial construct, that doesn't make the frustration go away. And it's far healthier to actually express those emotions than to bury them under the idea that things are okay even when they're really not.
Life can be joyous. It's just not joyous all the time. And it's those meh-to-horrible times that make the good times good.
