I always see Alex K pop up on FB as a contributor to some science page...I think... I can't really remember what the page is, but I always wonder if its you.
I think of this when I see the name "Alex." The "K" can be thought of as just another attempt at confusing us about which Englishman he is, as his last name changes in the movie (see previous link) and isn't given in the book at all, I think.
