Intelligent Design...another way of inserting Creationism where it does not belong. It adds nothing, scientifically, to evolution and isessentially a way of implimenting a theistic world-view into school teaching. It isn't some catch-all 'compromise', and it is fairly ignorant in its proposal that it be taught in schools. Church<==>State. Arms length, people.
On the subject of ID, I had an infuriating experience in class the other day. Our teacher decided to take a poll on whether we believed in evolution, or that God created the earth. I interjected that such a poll was biased, because some may believe in both. He then proceeded to assert that I must beleive in intelligent Design, and when I tried to correct him, he moved on and ignored me. Because of the biased nature of his poll, only three peopel raised their hands in defense of evolution. He pretty much mocked all of us for this, even when I am damn sure some of the people in that class were just too put off by the black and white-ness of hi spoll. :/
