The word is being applied so badly that it's bound to create a misunderstanding. It makes you wonder if those folks really understand what "sentient" means. Eating plants or meat or paint chips won't make you sentient. It's a complete misnomer. On the other hand, eating enough paint chips might lead you to think that there are "sentient" foods.
Just go in your search engine and click sattvik sentient ........and you will see hundreds of sites in which sattvik and sentient go hand in hand.
Now that we've got that out of the way, let's start looking for all of these spiritual vegans who radiate or can see auras. I'm guessing that you'll need a whole lot of creative excuse-making to deal with all of the ones who neither radiate nor see auras (my guess- the vast majority of them) as well as the ones who claim to do so but cannot come up with any sort of consistent explanation, description, or approach.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
