You know, the guys at Charlie Hebdo made fun of everyone. Christians, jews, muslims, secular figures. They attacked hypocrisy and bigotry wherever it was found. That's something to respect and to support.
Rallies like that on the other hand are meant to provoke reactions from a single group. They're on the same line as the Achmadinejad draw the Holocaust contest. Some low lifes wanting to express their personal hatred with the hatred being the only message.
Not quite. The way Muslims react to blasphemy is mostly what provokes the blaspheming. When someone forbids an expression of speech, going so far as to threaten me for saying it or doing it, it make me want to say it or do it more. That's how it works with a lot of others as well. If Muslims want people to stop blaspheming against their religion, they need to stop throwing violent temper tantrums every time it happens.
Ever notice how the most vocal militant atheist groups crop up in the most evangelical of communities? The more religious people act like swaggering bullies, the more they draw backlash against them. Equal and opposite reaction. It's a Newtonian principle at work.
