eV means electronVolt and is a tiny measure of energy, it's the energy you get if a single electron flows through a circuit with one Volt . The photons in visible (green) light have roughly 4 eV which is why you can nicely power LEDs with that kind of voltage
"Radioactive" radiation typically has millions of eVs per gamma photon, and the protons in the LHC have 6.5 trillion eVs. So that's a lot.
