"Although the Diocese condemned the act of sacrilege against the Madonna statue, it also followed the Pope’s lead by absolving Islam of any responsibility for what happened."

I'm not sure how many of the public are convinced by this sort of statement any more. Obama and Cameron amongst others are also quick to reel this one out after every reported atrocity. We'll wait a long time for a world leader to step up and say 'actually this IS because of religion' I think. I can only hope.
