Things is, pops...it's all you. YOU are the one who dragged yourself out of that hole. You came close to breaking point but you were able to call upon some inner reservoir of strength to help overcome it. You deserve all the credit for going toe to toe with your depression/borderline psychosis and being able to beat it back. You did it all.
It's great that you feel better either way, but it's sad that you don't realise your own capabilities, and feel the need to ascribe this experience to some ethereal external force.
You're stronger than you know, and you don't need to lean on imaginary friends. Nobody does. Nobody ever did.
