God is not a micromanager . He gave us free will. He allows nature to take its course.
I cannot comment on your argument in regards to the OT stories. As I said in other threads, I believe the OT stories are written allegorically and not literally. Many (but not all) Catholics hold this view. The Church allows each individual to form their own opinion about this.
