Snort...rare white elk indeed. Big Grin Tell him to join, I'm actually not far from Plano (30 minutes tops), there are more of us around here than other parts of the state.

Haha, it is a fun word, isn't it? Tongue

Trust me, it's frustrating to many of us as well. I kept turning off the news because my blood pressure was shooting through the roof and the poor kitty was hiding. You're right too, the media doesn't pay much attention to those who trying to fight them by changing how the Board is appointed, etc. Unfortunately, the Board has near absolute power and is overwhelmingly Evangelical, so those who oppose them have little say in the matter. They are set in their ways and their beliefs. They refuse to listen to the other side and won't give the time of day to anyone who doesn't agree with their desires (even other Conservatives who merely point out they are doing exactly what they accused the Liberals of doing).

I don't know, it's all so....disappointing. I knew we were a state with a high number of fundies and ignorant bigots, but it's getting ridiculous, something like this shouldn't be allowed to happen. I vote the rest of the states follow California's lead (though I don't know what ever came of their talks) and consider barring Texas influenced texts from their classrooms. At least it would give me an alternative for when my stepdaughter enters grade school.
