I was once that pig and if someone hadn't taken the time to show me the basics of critical thinking, I would still be holding on to my irrational beliefs. So, I disagree that it is all in vain.

For me, it was reading atheist responses on Christian forums, especially their answers about being good without god,that gradually opened my mind.
