Once again literal. Back then marriage was a huge deal. You weren't supposed to be touched until marriage. If a woman proclaimed purity, and lied then it showed her not to be pure of heart and in turn could be detrimental to society. Very simple. Not literal. And I'm certain that man looked at it wrong, and acted on it in haste, and assumption.
