Here's a great quote: "Whether many thousands of people believe something has no bearing on whether it's true."
In other words, getting followers doesn't mean anything except that people in general are idiots. The truth exists outside belief; no matter who believes in god (no capitalization, god isn't a noun) they are still wrong.
I could start a religion online about an alien volcano god named vishnu who trapped 1000 zombies in a space bubble and I'd still get followers who'd kill themselves for me! Oh, wait... That already happened, it's called Scientology.
