Why the hell does someone choose to die when they can live without any negative consequences other than a troubling memory of an isolated accident that required a blood transfusion and a trip to the ER? Doesn't this make you frustrated with the world and society? Or are you different to the fact some people are so self-destructive it makes us all wonder?
I am not putting into question people's choices, I'm questioning why they make dumb choices in the first place.
No, it's not up to you or I to judge people for making informed decisions about their medical treatment. If they make a decision not to continue treatment (or not to receive it in the first place) based on religious beliefs that's their decision to make. They're entitled to be treated with the same dignity, respect, and care as any other patient in the hospital - including the drug addicts who you could say self-harmed their way into the hospital in the first place.
Everyone dies eventually. Some people are more at peace with it than others, and are more welcoming of an earlier death. Labelling their choices as "dumb" is incredibly short-sighted and rather antagonistic.

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
