Why would that be a "deficiency"? But she still was 10 years old, anyway (yeah - few days does not mean a thing). There have been girls as young as 5/6 years, who got pregnant - that doesn't make it a generally applicable rule.
Also - nowadays girls start menstruating earlier than they used to because of modern nutrition, that allows them to build a sufficient layer of body fat early (some also blame hormones used in milk production for triggering puberty, but I don't know how scientific that claim is; probably not very). Ask women who trained ballet, or other activities, that required them to stay extremely skinny throughout their teen years - they tend not to menstruate until 16 and later. So I'll bet 1500 years ago, in the desert girls would be unlikely to sexually mature as early as 10.
Sure - there might have been plenty of people marrying and f-ing kids back then. There still are plenty of them now - and I will continue to call them paedophiles, because that's what they are - whether it's "the norm" or not.
