I'm talking about in real life, to the face of a real life friend. And this conversation all started when Rhythm asked me about a religious friend of his.
This is the problem with these online discussions. People don't read the conversations thoroughly and then start assuming I'm saying things I'm not actually saying lol. It's very frustrating.
Okay that is different. But I thought your disappointment about Rob kudos'ing Vic or Kusa's post was actually about what happens here.
Let me clarify.
When I say "what happens here" I'm talking about all the anti religious posts, etc, that you guys put up. I understand this is an atheist site and wouldn't expect the atheists here not to make posts like that about religion. So that's what I meant by that.
The thing with Rob (and I love Rob, btw, I don't mean to drag him into this), was that he kudosed a post that specifically made fun of me. I wasn't angry at him for it, I was just disappointed/surprised because him and I are buddies on here. So I was like "why is my buddy Rob giving a high five to something that is directly making fun of me personally?"
It got blown waaayyyy out of proportion and came across as being something that it never was. And that was entirely my fault for expressing my disappointment on the thread rather than via PM. For which I have apologized to Rob.
You can still make fun of people personally here, and I still think that's not cool. But when I said I wasn't talking about what happens here, I was referring to the general anti religious posts.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
