I've encountered a few people whining about it.

I tell them to ignore the words and accept the sentiment with which they're given. I'm an atheist and if someone says Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays or whatever, I respond in kind.

Seriously, I'm sick of these idiots whining over trivialities.
