Faith healing is one of the most frustrating and sickening aspects of religious belief. The practice is dangerously reckless, tragic, and downright criminal much of the time. I happen to tolerate religious stupidity quite well, but I'm forced to speak up when I hear about ridiculous parents substituting faith-healing and/or prayer for legitimate medical treatment.
Even as a believer, I was deeply troubled by the faith-healings performed at my church. The irony of the church being located across the street from a hospital was never lost on me.
If it wasn't for science giving us plentiful medical advances just imagine laying in bed with a sickness that could be cured with
over the counter medications and then suffering because you know they are praying and its not working. Faith and praying doesn't
cure shit.
