Local party crawled up it's own asshole and died over a year ago in the lead up to the presidential election. Despite Obama's popularity in the area when he ran (he even campaigned here) Campaign Hillary wrote off the area, and it remains written off.
Yeah, radical thought there, rebuilding the party from the ground up. Attracting new blood, trying to generate some interest in local races and promoting the differences democrats can make here while establishing a base for statewide offices, and then rebuilding at a national level.

That sounds like a good idea, unfortunately it runs into real people who support the Democratic party, some of whom believe that nobody can be progressive enough, and want ideological purity over expanding the party. These are the same people out there calling everyone and their mother Nazis. Hard to expand the base when you have a segment of the party that insults anyone to the right of themselves on any issue.
