Could I sue my religion over this?

Well, you can sue anyone for anything, literally (I seem to recall more than one lawsuit filed against God).  It is simply a matter of finding a lawyer willing to prepare the idiotic paperwork for the appropriate fee.  Finding such a lawyer is usually the difficult bit as they are - as a group - far more concerned with justice and fair play than they are with making money.  *cough cough*
