If the Fed can print an unlimited amount of money, why does anybody need to pay tax?

When there's more paper in the currency than the toilet paper it's buying, you know you have a problem...

I was referring to various times and places where people have had to bring wheelbarrows full of cash to the grocers.  Here's a man buying an egg during the Weimar Republic. ONE egg.

I wonder how many GI's in the occupation forces gathered up boxes of that old currency for their kids and grandkids, knowing that someday it might be worth something to collectors. A friend of mine, whose father did this when he was a member of the occupational forces in Japan, recently made a small fortune from the sale of several hundred prewar bank notes.
