Church of England 'failed to protect children from sexual abusers'

The Church of England failed to protect children from sexual abuse, and created a culture where abusers "could hide", a report has concluded.
The Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse (IICSA)'s report says the Church's failure to respond consistently to victims and survivors of abuse often added to their trauma.
It added that alleged perpetrators were often given more support than victims.
The Church of England is expected to publish a response later.

The report, which is the latest in a series of publications from the IICSA, says 390 clergy members and other church leaders were convicted of abuse between the 1940s and 2018.

In 2018 there were 2,504 safeguarding concerns reported to dioceses about either children or vulnerable adults, and 449 allegations of recent child sexual abuse.
The inquiry said the Church of England was "in direct conflict with its own underlying moral purpose to provide care and love for the innocent and the vulnerable".
Its chair, Prof Alexis Jay, said: "Over many decades, the Church of England failed to protect children and young people from sexual abusers, instead facilitating a culture where perpetrators could hide and victims faced barriers to disclosure that many could not overcome.

Is anyone surprised by this??

i hate stupid crap like this... where is the expectation that God protects all come from? certainly not the bible. we are told God did not spare his son from the evils of this world and as followers we should not expect to be treated any differently. retards... this world belongs to satan. if you oppose him like by going to church, he is at war with you. he will use everything in his power to get you to turn on the church and what little protection there is from the onslaught satan can levie. Not only that what moron in this day and age does not understand Christian make up the worst of the worst of soceity.. it is the weak and week willed that admit they are devastated sinners!!! None of this changes when you follow Christ we are still slaves to sin. we are simply forgiven. it is that honest way we look at ourselves with the humility to say i can not do better that forces people to the church. why is it even a thing when one or many of us fail? it is you who pretend to be good enough with out God it should be you atheist who are put on front page news when your sins are known. we do not pretend to be better, by defination we have to admit we all fall short and need redemption!

Where did I say I expected god to protect anyone?
I am pointing out that that the church if more interested in protecting it's pervert priests than in protecting children.
