Hector and The Search for Happiness.
It's an okay film. Nothing too bad; maybe it's trying to be a much greater film than it really is, but to be honest, I honestly like it. Why? Well, the two things that make it memorable for me go down to two actors who probably have a combined total of 15 minutes' worth of screen time. The first is Jean Reno playing a drug lord with a depressed wife (he's always good). The second is Veronica Ferres, playing hippy-dippy patient Anjali. There's just something about her that I can't explain. I hope some of you might figure it out:
Seriously, I'd put up with a lot of New Age bullshit if I had any chance of getting those 8.5s out of those Birks (though I suspect I'd draw the line at hard-line animal rights prattle). Seriously, it was a Chinese hooker who made him wonder about the benefits of having a second wife and not the prepetually discalced blonde who could very well be into that sort of thing (especially if her last scene is any indication)?
