In Hunchback of Notre Dame Disney movie, does Quasimodo imagine the gargoyles

Some say he imagines them to cope with his loneliness, but just wondering your view on it?

I’ve never seen the film, but I have seen Notre Dame cathedral. I can testify that the gargoyles are real.

It's complicated, and honestly, probably the biggest plot holes in the film.

On the one hand, this scene would clearly establish they're not real:




But then again, they actively help defend Notre Dame from Frollo in the climax of the film:




Either this is a plot hole, or they run by a modified version of Toy Story rules that allows them to be alive for Quasi because the only other person he has in his life is a genocidal maniac.

Now, if you'll excuse me, while looking for clips, I just discovered that Salma Hayek played Esmeralda in an adaptation, and want to see if they give us any good shots of her feet.

Nostalgia Critic also talked about this. Now i guess one could argue that Gargoyles attacking was also in his head. But you got a good point there
