Really? The global seat of the Catholic Church has half a million exorcisms per year and this surprises you? I’m surprised it’s not more.
‘I don’t know if you’re aware of this but in Italy, that guy Jesus? He’s big there. Really big. Statues, paintings, posters, stamps…everywhere you look, ‘There’s Jesus, there’s Jesus, there’s Jesus’. He’s like the Coca-Cola of Italy.’ - Lewis Black

Admittedly, I probably should have been less surprised. My years in a Catholic high school, and, indeed, the actual Exorcist movie, led me to think there was a much higher barrier to entry for exorcisms (at least the Catholic kind). That said, looking up the stat further, even that number's wrong, since the actual stat is that half a million people seek exorcisms a year, not undergo them.
Probably the bigger surprise is that such ceremonies are a lot more boring than I would have expected.
Somehow, the most interesting things wound up being the obvious ADR for the possessed voice and the fucking cloth they put on the possessed's chair.
I probably shouldn't have expected levitation or anything like that, but when the star of your ceremony is the random-ass red blanket on her chair, you know you've fucked up.
