Time for diet and exercise!
#45
Week 1 Summary
Total calories yesterday was 1205. Okay, it's officially the end of week 1 and the beginning of week 2. I know, I know, that technically speaking I started my diet on Monday not Sunday, however Sunday will be the start of the week as far as the diet is concerned, so all that means is that week 1 was short by 1 day - I'd rather than then have Monday as the start of the week.

  • The rules ...
Coffee - I haven't given up flat whites, in fact I'm drinking one now. But with that said, I won't be drinking them during the week at all, and on work days I will now only drink long blacks. Over the last week (starting Monday 30th-Saturday 4th) I drank a total of 2 coffees. Usually though I will have one (or sometimes two) every day at work, and then usually not outside of work. So there's no reason to bar myself from flat whites outside of work. It's true I don't really like flat whites more than long blacks - except for the fact that I can drink it when I get it, and black coffee is always way too hot to drink immediately.

Energy Drink - Absolutely no energy drinks.

Alcohol - None thus far (since 28/12/2013), the rule is subject to change.

Bread - I haven't eaten any, but I have had a couple of wheat products (which I'm not intending to avoid - ie extra thin pizza bases, etc). This is only a short trial.

Takeaway - none since 29/12/2013; not 100% completely banned however will avoid as much as possible for the moment.

Snacking - the rules will be somewhat more relaxed then I originally implied. Over the last week I had one unhealthy snack (on 03/01/2013), largely because I could do so and still keep to target 1200 calories. Also, 7PM is NOT my "final cut off time" although it is still the goal since anything eaten after this hour is unhelpful.

Breakfast - sometimes I have a larger breakfast as I did this morning (1x Large bowl of cereal), although usually it's consistent. In order to keep it consistent I'll now be using just one bowl that is the correct size for it.

Calories - the number one rule - I am counting them, which I've never done before, and will help me to keep consistent throughout the diet. My goal is around 1200/day and thus far I've adhered near perfectly.

  • Weight Training...
3/6 days so far, lol, so not very consistent yet.

  • Weigh In...
My weight as of today is 82.2 kilos. My starting weight was 84kg, so in week 1 I lost 1.8 kilos. It's important to note that I expect to loose more weight in week 1 than the average (the sudden calorie adjustment is a shock to my body), and I expect that in week 2 I will have lost substantially less than 1.8kg, it may only be around 0.6 kilos or so, so I'd predict my weight to be around 81.6 kilos next weigh-in.

Yes, typically if I want a really healthy lunch I'll go to my favourite take away and get a BLT sandwich with Avocado, no sauce on wholegrain. Way more healthy than anything from Subway, it's actually fresh not Subway pretend-fresh, and the flavour melts in your mouth.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
