My family was half Episcopal, half Catholic. I went to plenty of both kinds of services. They read the same bibles.

There is much in the same way to suggest that fundamental parts of the Bible itself are sourced from older myths.
Quote:the problem you and the rest have is one easily resolved by a simple question. Does any of what the Catholic Church say about Hell appear in the bible? If not one can simply cut out and discard all of the old myth stuff, which includes most of your OP.
What is actually written in the bible is not as important as how the writing is interpreted. The Catholics have no problem interpreting the Bible in the way they do, and they would say that you're the one who isn't doing it correctly. I guarantee that I won't interpret the way either of you do.
Quote:Again you asked a question based on God's fairness concerning Hell. I answered it by showing you what you believe to be Hell is infact not the Hell according to the only document God Him put before us to answer all things concerning Him... Including His works, thoughs and warnings of Hell.. But, it seems you need God to be unjust in order to justify how and what you think of Him. Otherwise it would seem to me an open mind would at least ask a few more questions concerning the idea that God is not the monster you need Him to be in your mind concerning this.
I can promise you that the reason I view your god as a monster is because I have personal standards of goodness, and your god is just one of many that fails the test. Since that god is supposed to not have any limits to his knowledge or capabilities, there can be no excuses for his behavior.
I know that you hold your god above any reproach automatically. No matter what he does, you think he's doing the right thing. You might be the one who needs to ask more questions than you have.
