Climate change

RE: Climate change
It's been as much (perhaps more) of a problem before.  This isn't the first time we've tried to off ourselves with the environment as the blade.  Fewer people, more people, it hardly matters if they're all equally starving, eh? Our problems are not exceptional, there is precedent - they are the same problems we have been grappling with since time immemorial. I only mention this to soften the notion that our problems today are so great that we may have no path to look towards for a solution, and any excuse that may offer to those who would throw in the towel, or excuse us for doing nothing, or doing little, late.

There has never been a point in history, so far as we can tell, that humans have had an environmental free lunch (as you noted). It doesn't take alot of us to royally fuck something up, from the standpoint of it's utilitity -to us-, lol. Truthfully, adding more to the pile doesn;t have a 1/1 increase in damage, just the few of us are capable of wrecking it in a manner totally incommensurate with our tiny numbers......eh?

It's the third worlders, btw, with the pop boom......and those people aren't the big contributors to climate change (though I'm sure they'd like to be), so...in what way are they the problem- as relates to this problem? Eliminating the third world would do, effectively, nothing. Eliminating a tiny fraction - the first world.....would do very much. Breeding aint the problem, on this count, amigo.

(I mention elimination not because you suggested it, only as an example of the most extreme measure I could imagine - and it's non-present effect if applied to those responsible for the "too many people" business, personally, I think that there aren;t enough people. We clearly need a larger pool from which to draw good ideas......... )
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
