It's not about what you believe, but why you believe it.
A good example is sky diving, It's on my bucket list but I believe I might perish when i try it eventually, This can be easily backed up with examples of people who have perished while sky diving, However there is also sufficient evidence that the activity is safe when done with a professional and proper precautions are taken.
Now compare this to the Christian line of thinking which goes something like this: Old heavily flawed book says it's true, I believe the book, fin.
