For those of you who support the death penalty, what is your consideration on the emotional trauma which executions causes strangers. Consider the case of children who have hung themselves after an execution:

Or, for that matter, death penalty protesters who sob and wail outside of the death house, a common occurrence? Are the deaths of these little children and the emotional scars upon complete strangers necessary? What purpose do executions serve, given the fact that murder is one of the lowest recidivist crimes?
As the kid who had much difficulty adjusting, and was therefore regarded as a bad kid by school officials, the chief fears which robbed me of sleep were eternal hellfire and the idea of being strapped down and mercilessly killed by authorities who were trusted by my parents, and believed their actions were just, although I had no idea why or I knew they were wrong about me - this is a horror which few murder victims ever experience! My parents trusted people who didn't like me and were willing to make me their scapegoat, therefore I grew up in fear that my parents would betray me! This is what the society which supports the finality of capital punishment does to perfect strangers, it terrorizes troubled children, and this may turn them hopelessly against it! Society should never, ever be in the business of killing its own citizens.
