Do you drink any as well? My uncle died last year of throat cancer. My dad had it last year (it is now in remission). My grandfather died of it some years ago. My girlfriend's father also died of it two years ago. And now there's Christopher Hitchens (although I understand he is quite a drinker too). Its not just the possibility of lung cancer, but throat cancer.
Not sure if this would help or not, but even the physical act of holding a cig may be on your mind. Try cinnamon flavored toothpicks. (I'm not sure if this would act as a temporary physical substitute or if it may exacerbate the craving)
Corrupt tobacco companies thrive by getting people hooked on their drug. F*** them. Watch The Insider with Al Pacino and Ruseell Crowe (I remember when this news actually came out in the mid 90s).
Think of all the money you'll be saving. How many packs do you normally smoke a week? Do the math and calculate how much money you are saving in a year's time.
You can only benefit from quitting, not only in terms of quantity of life but quality as well. And more than your family and friends, you owe it to yourself. Good luck and don't let the bastards grind you down!
