You might try a book called "The Feeling Good Handbook" by David Burns, M.D. I have an old version on my bookshelf and I haven't looked at it in years but he uses principles of cognitive behavioral psychology on depression, self-esteem and mood issues.
It's a good book - I believe it's still in print but it might have a slightly different title now.
I have a serious aversion to anything woo and I can attest that there's no woo in there.
