Holy cow Summer!
I did that in 6th grade in home ec, but the needle was intact, so it was sticking out. I must have looked away for a split second and crunch! I was in shock staring at it. Watching blood start dripping off the end of the needle. The teacher noticed and sent me to the principle. Mr. Salinas. He pulled it out. They wrapped gauze around it and made me hold it tight with pressure. I never used a sewing machine again.
