I appreciate your kind words, but it is filled with flaws -- it's my first attempt at this sort of thing, and the pics do not show the flaws -- plenty of wood-filler saw action (wood-filler is not your friend), the sanding was done ineptly so that marks can be seen on close inspection. The grill-cloth is not mounted straight, which is a particular emabarrasment for me because I've got experience stratching canvas paintings over frames, I should have gotten that part right.
But it's a learning process, it will certainly not be the last cabinet I build, and every mistake in it will be the root of improvement.
I took pics throughout the build, am pondering starting a thread for it, and other projects like it as they come up.
Know who's an extremely skilled carpenter? GC.
The dude can probably build anything. Likes talking about it, too.
If you start a thread, I bet he'd be good for a few pointers/ideas.
I wouldn't have ever guessed your work was a first attempt, if you hadn't said anything btw; It looked quite nice to me.
Of course, anything I've ever built came in a box...with lots and lots of 'extra' screws.
