I've been in NC since you've known me.
I'm not impressed by Nawleans people bitching. DC was built on a drained swamp. Spend a day there in 100°+ heat with high humidity on the unshaded National Mall and then ask if I give a fuck what they think.
And the reenactors for the Battle of Bull Run in their wool gear on a similar day in Manassas didn't give a single solitary fuck what people near the ocean thought either.
I know about Washington DC. Lived just over the border in Oxon Hill, Maryland for 3 years through the beginning of high school. I'll never forget arriving there with my five brothers, sister and parents in a truck and camper. Woke up in the camper stuck to a naugahyde cushion as we pulled in from the last night of traveling. Needless to say AC didn't exist. All summer it was hot and humid. I spent most days back in the shade of an old forest. Every afternoon we'd get a thunderstorm with impressive lightning when it was dark. But lightning bugs were a big plus.
