The last day was all about fancy food and drinks. We started the day off with Coffee and Beignets at Café du Monde, which is the original beignet place. They are so busy all the time that the pre-make and bag the beignets. This is why we went to Café Beignet first, because they make them to order. Even though you could tell that the beignets had sat for a bit, they were still, IMO, better.
We then walked up the riverfront to Compère Lapin for brunch.
Chef Nina Compton (runner up on Top Chef) was incredible, and came out and talked to us. I had the best Bloody Mary I've ever had (included a spicy green chile vodka.) For food, I had a Tuna Tartare bagel with chile spread and wasabi aioli, then a Black Truffle Fonduta with a poached egg and toasted ciabatta.
We went back to the casino, and the bachelor made all of his money back and then some playing blackjack and another, better poker table game. I lost about $75 playing the same game and craps, but I played and drank for like 5 hours so I consider it worth it.
Our fancy dinner was at Lüke, a John Besh restaurant. It was incredible. We all shared a bunch of appetizers, ranging from stuffed oysters to chicken and rabbit liver pâté to a roasted quail. I had a seafood gumbo with oysters, crawfish, shrimp, and pork belly, and my main course was a ribeye that was the best steak I've ever had. We ended with cappuccino and bread pudding with pecan sauce and vanilla ice cream that was life changing.

I drove back to Florida to enjoy the rest of my spring break. Reunited with my boy at last. Missed the Nanners.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
