Well, I can see how that would work. However, say, for example, you were a poor judge of looks (read: tends to find things outside of the "attractive norm" attractive) and he was unaware of this. Now, imagine Ryft judged well within said norm. Your sex and appearance really have little bearing on it. It's only Mosh's (I assume) wish to appeal to women that led to him opting for your statement over Ryft's statement.
To be clear, I think Ryft was being a bit of a jerk on purpose and I don't think Mosh's beard is fucked up. It's his face that alarms. /kidding
