We met eleven years ago in Paris and he proposed in Vienna two weeks later (how romantic! Whatta fairy tale!). I had a semester left of college, so we went back to our respective countries before he came to the States for a month to meet my family and before I headed to Melbourne. Between the fact that my grant money for grad school at UM fell through and we were fighting constantly (he liked me to be at home- I like to explore), it didn't work out. People are different on vacation than they are in real life. Also, he really wanted to get married (we kind of had to) and (gasp!) have babies, so we realized pretty quickly we weren't going to work out. I was there on a tourist visa for three months, went to NZ by myself for a week, back to Melb for a month, and amid a lot of yelling and crying, we decided I would go home. Seems like Luckie and Esqui have a little bit of a better grasp on communication than my ex and I did. My best advice (although you probably already know this- and it's completely unsolicited) is to dot your i's and cross your t's really well. Tourist visas aren't long-term and once you get to Oz on one, it's really hard to switch it out for something else. Good luck to you guys
The fact you met and then two weeks later he proposed marriage...
...Kind of a red flag! XD
