Maybe try petting one at a pet store, so you can lose fear. There's a pet store I visit often to see my friends (snakes). One of them has been there for more than a year and is huge! I have grown fond of her. They also have spiders, but I don't hold those. I started going there as part of therapy to one of my clients, and now I go on my own. I do recommend it!
That is a great idea. But if Elle isn't ready for the real thing she could start by petting my trouser snake, you know, just to get the hang of it. Wait a minute .. just how violent a reaction do you experience to snakes?
Haha, you might retract that. I go at them with a sharp stick.
I don't think therapy is necessary. It's ok to be scared of snakes and bees and spiders my friends. People love snakes, that's great. People love spiders, also great. But if I see one slithering in my dog door, especially with a little darling in the house, I'm getting rid of it.
