What would have happened to Pius XII surrounded by fascist Italy (and Nazis by 1943) if he actually condemned Adolf Hitler and the Nazis?
Why did you just ignore my answer? You, and the Pope, believe that there is an Almighty Being who is the font of all morality. Why would he allow his earthly representative be tortured for espousing the very morality that this deity is alleged to have imparted?
Clearly, if your justification for your church's silence in the face of evil is actually what drove Pius's decision, then he was a sham who did not believe that his god could protect him. Or Pius didn't actually believe that murdering Jews was wrong. Those really are the two options here in this discussion.
As an aside, it is just as clear that you do not believe your god could or would intercede on the behalf of a follower. Is that because he doesn't care, or because he lacks the power?
Hey, at least the Roman Catholic Church didn't make a member of the Hitlerjugent the pope when it had the chance.
Oh, wait.
