Give my Preacher cousin his 15 minutes of fame

That said,  I hate when people do this.  And it seems like the ones who do; do so every time (unless it is them who falls on misfortune).  Whether it's a natural disaster, or the evilness of man, these things are not always to be considered a punishment, or that they where worse a sinner than you are.  If talking to another Christian, I would ask them why they felt the need to speak this, and caution them about taking the Lords name in vein.  It looks bad, and if they are not speaking for God, but just guessing, then it is very bad (false prophets where never looked upon well).

Now a suggestion;   I didn't look at the Facebook link, which I see you added later.  But most of what I disagree with, I believe  is you talking not your cousin.  I think that it would be better if you used direct quotes more.  While what he said (that you quoted) certainly makes me pause, and ask questions, it's not necessarily that bad.  Was there more that was said, or are you making a liberal interpretation.  It is difficult to tell, and you would probably be better letting him speak for himself.

I guess I'll be the odd atheist out and say that I agree with this.

Look. I get that we're all angry about what happened down in Florida. It was a senseless tragedy that shouldn't have happened. In the last two decades, the number of tragedies that continues to happen in the US is astounding. We should be mad because no one in government wants to seriously address the gun problems and the mental health issues that allow these things to happen. People in power don't want to do anything that takes away from their ability to keep getting re-elected. They don't care about their constituents or the people that vote for them and as long as this is the general attitude of those making the laws in this country, things will never change.

Thoughts and prayers are not the answer and I cannot stand when religious people, especially those in a position of power and influence, use these sorts of acts to spread their religious opinions and try to scare people into believing in their brand of woo. It's disgusting.

But as disgusting as it seems, we all have a responsibility to do the right thing. Posting the offensive person's personal information here, where they are not a member and cannot possibly give consent or objection, crosses a line no matter how wrong the cousin is in his sermon or his Facebook post. In the long run, it puts the cousin in potential harm and no one has the right to put another individual in harm's way. This is a publicly viewable website so literally any "guest" lurking here can take that information and do what they wish with it.

Clearly, there's been enough information contained within this thread that repeatedly gives the person's name and profile picture, now searchable on Facebook, and the name of the church, along with the city and state the church is located in. The original post by the cousin, on Facebook does NOT do this so it isn't right that his information was posted in a meme on these forums, unbeknownst to him or without his consent. This has become more than just wanting to spread a message. It's now an invitation for trouble.

I'm honestly saddened that while some staff have willingly participated in this thread, none of them have taken down the images, knowing that they clearly violate the rule on Doxing here. This thread was created two days ago and we should let it stay up for discussion, because religious people using a tragedy to spread their agenda, is a real-world issue, but by all means - every instance where the images and memes of this person's personal information appear, should really be removed. I realize that my opinion means squat with regards to this, but seriously - if this was a theist who had done the something similar with regards to an atheist's personal information, everyone would have lost their shit over it and been demanding that person be banned.
