IF THIS IS NOT the most PRO CHOICE poem I have ever heard! THIS IS FUCKING FANTASTIC.. So much so, I am going to write a ode to her basically saying "I Will Never Be A Father". I don't plan on giving it the opposite title though, the words will be in it. I think I might call it "I agree Helen".

When you say Helen
"I will never be a mother"
Singles get vilified
Treated like fellons

As if the only duty
Of any human
Female or male
Is that of procreation

While it is true
I will never feel
The pain of pregnancy 
Because I am male

The insidious assumption
That those who don't
Whom lack baby pictures
In their purses and wallets

Are not as deserving
And somehow odd
Just because of
Children we don't want

I will never be a father
And why should I be?
Because of the notion
And popularity?

I've taken care
Of my elderly
Mother in decline
That's enough for me

The fear of injury
The the second guessing
Pondering stepping in
Versus giving her independence

Watching her be stubborn
With a wobbly recliner 
Mobility issues
Afraid of a disaster

Fearing that call
In the the middle of the night
"She didn't make the toilet"
Intensive care this time


I will never be a father
I've also had pets
Freaked out over
Things I thought my cat ate
300 bucks later at the vet

I found out
He didn't swallow it
The plastic jug ring
Didn't show up in the X-Ray

I will never be a father
Nor do I want to be
One more mouth to feed
Not just the worry

7 billion already
Fighting over resources
Killing each other
Needlessly

It may be evolutionary
I won't deny that
But it does lead to narcissim
Of the parent at hand

Don't get me wrong
We wouldn't evolve
Birth has to happen
But not every time

I don't want to be a father
For the things I did
As a teen
Very distructive

I was lucky
That's all that can be said
I could have gone south
Hurt others instead

I don't want to be a father
It scares me to ponder
The thought of parenting
A future murderer that wanders

When you show me
Your baby pictures
I see no accomplisment
In mundane sex

It is  no miracle 
It happens worldwide
Babies are born
Every minute, day and hour

I don't want to be a father
Not because I hate kids
Just try to accept
It is not my thing
