Where do you stand on breastfeeding in public?

We all know breast milk gives babies the best start in life,

Uhm... No. What gives a baby the best start in life is a trust fund.

but it's a chance to whinge for some when women feed their kids in public. I'm all for it, I can't see why some people are disgusted by it.

Because of the noisy, smelly, drooling homunculus, covered in its own filth, obscuring the best part of the breast.

I know people who also think that women should stop after 12 months. At what age would you say the child would be when it becomes unacceptable to continue breast feeding? And do you think it would be ok to continue for as long as the child wants it as long as it's not done in public?

Yeah, sure. Because children know best what they need...

I'm asking because there was a radio debate on the subject, and I was surprised how many people are against women feeding in public.

Meh. I'd much prefer witnessing a woman breastfeeding, than - say - a man...
