Yes, I do believe that race played a huge factor in this crime.
Do I think that she deliberately entered the apartment with the hopes of shooting a black guy in mind? No, probably not.
However, I do believe his being Black was the reason why she was so quick to shoot to kill instead of holding him at gunpoint like she supposed to (until she realized she wasn't even in her fucking house, of course)--And why she made no effort to render first aid to the man, even though she'd been trained to do so and had supplies right in her bag.

A cop at least here has great responsability. A couple of years here in portugal a guy run over a cop stopping him after he commited burglary, The other cop jumped out of the way and tried to shoot the tires in the spur of the moment. Turns out one of the shots killed the young son of the burglar that was in the back of the van.
The cop still got trialed for manslaughter. He got 5 years. That incident had nothing to do with racism, parts involved were white.
On a side note, there is indeed strident racism here, but between blacks and gipsies. I was in the neighborhood attending a friends daughter B-day and we withnessed some gunshots at the distance. My black friend told me there is some bad blood between black families and gipsy on that street. No shit. No injuries, its just a couple of of shotgun shells to the air, so he told me.
