The problem, if you even see it as a problem, is that the general movie-going public, at least in the States, isn't really concerned with quality directing & writing, provocative story-telling and interesting, in-depth character profiles... when all of these things are used to speak about the trials and tribulations of the human experience, it's beautiful.
After all, art is what happens when the beauty and tragedy of life intersect.
That being said, most movies are just made to entertain. Special effects, quippy dialogue and explosions are bound to entertain the masses - which is fine for what it is. I even enjoy some of those movies, from time to time.
But if you see that as problem for the concept of film as art, then the Marvel movies are certainly part of that problem, though not the root of the issue.
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
