They had a state meeting of the Michigan Militia at a gun club near Ann Arbor in 93 or 94. I forget the date. All the counties that had people sent representatives. A group of 5 of us from our county attended. (As I recall we had one of the larger groups. About half of the counties went unrepresented. The movement was nowhere as big as the.media reported - "in the millions" - it was more like a few thousand.)
McVeigh attended - and was rather loud. The usual anti government rants - just a lot more foaming at the mouth attitude. He was one of the BDU wearers - and made comment about our group and a few others who were not wearing uniforms..... That about all I remember of him. I just remember him because he had the name on his uniform - as I knew another guy by the same surname when I was in the service.
He wasn't the last foamer I met. It's why I gave up on the idea.
I still like the idea of the Militia as the Constitution outlines. That was what the more sane members had in common IMO. But that model is governed by and led by appointed leaders by the State. It's not a bunch of loose cannons running around the woods in BDUs, chanting slogans, voting for leaders and appointing themselves battlefield comissions.
