What you fail to understand is that cutting hands for thievery is better than throwing the convicted in a concrete cell for 15 or 20 years straight.

Good thing that noone wants to throw people in jail for 15-20y for theft, but you and your likes maybe.*
What YOU fail to grasp is that mutilating (permantently!) someone for some crime like theft is worse than taking away their freedom temporarily. If you fail to see the difference between locking someone up for 5y and cutting off his hand and crippling him/her for ever, if you fail to grasp the very principles of proportionality in social interaction within a CIVILIZED society then im not gonna waste my time trying to explain those basics to an ignorant fanatic like you.
