Is such an event possible? I am not politically minded enough to know for certain, but I am smart enough to understand that such a future is scary for at least half of the country.
In such an event, will the Republicans take away your freedoms? Are you going to allow yourself to get stuck in such a country or will you have left before it was too late?
The Republicans have been taking away your freedoms. They simply do not define what they take away as freedoms.
Ultimately no rights can possibly be inalienable in reality. Nor is there such a thing as freedom that can be exercised without abridging some other freedom of some other people. All there are, are rights that amuses some people to make some other people fight tooth and nail for, whether that is for, or irrespective of, the larger overall impact of the action.
The difference is, which sets of freedoms suits your purpose for others to have, and which sets of rights will best preserve your own security and options.
