Politically, I can see the advantage to letting Trump go. If he keeps screaming his paranoid, ridiculous fantasies, the Democrats will just look better by comparison. And the republicans, having already attached their carriage to his horse, will crash and burn.
But the cost of letting Trump destroy the republican party is that he'll take a lot of the country with him.
That riot the other day wasn't just a random instance. That was the result of him and his words. It wasn't even the first time he's inspired violence, just the most prominent. If he continues to put those words out, he's going to continue to incite violence. How many people should democrats allow to be killed so Trump can destroy the republican party? How many riots will we let them start?
